What is DR 199, and why is my Stage Manager asking me to sign up for it?

Metro Theatre Company produces shows associated with the University of California, Irvine's Department of Drama. To participate in a Metro Theatre Co. production, you must enroll in units for DR 199 Projects in Theatre with the corresponding faculty mentor, Cynthia Bassham. Students typically enroll in 1-2 units per quarter.

You will receive instructions on how to enroll in DR 199 once you are onboarded with the production.

What if I'm a Graduate Student?

Thanks for your interest in Metro Theatre Company! We are always looking for Graduate Student Mentors, Thesis Projects, and Cross-Departmental Collaborations for our productions.

Due to seniority and degree-standing being considered in the current structure of the UCI Drama Department's mainstage shows, Metro Theatre Company gives priority to undergraduates on both the performance and technical sides. Our mission is to provide undergraduates with the leadership experiences that are typically reserved for graduate students in the UCI mainstage shows.

If you are interested in becoming a mentor, proposing your project, or simply just wish to be involved, please email us at metrotheatreco@gmail.com.
